Frequency Cap
Updated this week

Control ad exposure in order to meet specialized goals.

Overview

Frequency cap is a setting within the Realize platform that allows you to limit the number of impressions a user receives in a specific timeframe.

You can set frequency limits by day, week, or month to tailor your ad frequency to align with goals.

Call out: The frequency cap setting is only visible for certain advertisers. Please contact your AM for more information.

How Does It Work?

Frequency Cap enables dynamic adjustment of ad frequency at the campaign level, offering the ability to adjust campaign exposure.

While you have the option to manually set frequency caps for specific cases, we recommend utilizing Realize's advanced system for maximum scale and performance.

Step by Step Guide

When creating a Campaign, you'll find "User Frequency Capping" option under the "Budget and Bidding" section.

You have 2 choices:

  1. Let Realize Optimize: Recommended default with no cap.

  2. Set a Preference: Enable frequency capping.

Frequency Capping Options:

  • Choose from Day, Week, or Month

  • Specify the capped value

When NOT to use Frequency Cap?

Without detailed frequency reporting, setting caps can inadvertently reduce campaign effectiveness and reduce algorithm learning efficiency. Frequency caps should not be used when relying on automated optimization systems, such as Realize's fully automated bidding strategies.

These solutions enhance campaign efficiency and manage user engagement by default by optimizing impressions dynamically. In such cases, manual frequency capping may not be necessary, as an automated solution can better align with campaign goals and audience needs.
